This is performed by making an incision in the lower abdomen just above the pubic bones. The procedure is done under spinal or general anaesthesia.
This procedure is indicated in patients with-
- Contracted Pelvis, as assessed by internal examination.
- Abnormal presentation, like Transverse lie of baby
- Failure to progress of normal labour
- Any foetal distress as observed on Cardio-Tocography (CTG)
